Treat Yourself at Home
Take-Home Whitening Kits
At our office, you have the option to use custom-crafted take-home whitening kits. We’ll develop a set of whitening trays that fit the contours of your teeth perfectly, and provide you with a set of professional-grade whitening compounds. Then, you can whiten your teeth at home, according to Dr. Engram’s instructions. Usually, you’ll use the trays for about 1 hour per day for 2-3 weeks. By the end of your treatment, your smile will look beautiful and brilliant once again.

In-Office Whitening
We also offer in-office whitening treatments. If you would like to quickly brighten your smile for a special occasion like an anniversary, wedding, or business conference, in-office whitening delivers rapid results. In just 1 appointment, your smile can be whitened by 5 shades or more.
How Does Teeth Whitening Work?
The Basics of Chemical Whitening
Chemical whitening uses a category of compounds called “peroxides,” such as carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. When a peroxide comes in contact with a stain on your teeth, it breaks the chemical bonds that hold the stain to your enamel. This “bleaches” the stain away, and restores the natural color of your teeth.
Professional vs. Over-the-Counter Whitening
What’s a Better Choice for Me?
Professional whitening is always a better choice than whiteners you can buy over-the-counter (OTC). With professional whitening, you’ll get customized, fast results. OTC whitening kits are “one size fits all” and will simply not offer you the same results.
In addition, most ADA-approved OTC products like Crest Whitestrips have very low levels of peroxide. This is to ensure you don’t over-whiten your teeth at home, but this also means they take a while to deliver results. There are also some OTC kits that are sold online (particularly on websites like Amazon) that have dangerously-high levels of peroxide, which can cause teeth bleaching, gum damage, and other serious oral health issues if used incorrectly.
For fast, safe, and effective results, it’s always a better choice to turn to a professional such as Dr. Toni Engram at Flourish Dental Boutique.
How Long Does
Teeth Whitening Last?
Most patients have a whiter smile for between 1-3 years. You can prolong your results by brushing and flossing regularly, coming into our office for regular cleanings, and getting periodic touch-up treatments.
Other ways you can prolong your results include decreasing your consumption of staining beverages (coffee, wine, tea, cola, etc.), or drinking them through a straw. Using peroxide-based whitening toothpaste and mouthwash will also help prevent stain buildup.
Does Teeth Whitening Hurt?
What to Expect From Treatment
Teeth whitening is totally painless. However, your teeth may feel somewhat sensitive to heat and cold while you’re undergoing treatment and for a few days afterward. Using an anti-sensitivity toothpaste like Sensodyne can help with this side effect.
