understanding the
types of implants we offer
We offer single-tooth implant placements, as well as restorations for single-tooth implants with dental crowns. In addition, you can get regular dental implant maintenance from Dr. Toni Engram at Flourish Dental Boutique.
placing your prosthetic
single-Tooth implants
A dental implant is a small rod-shaped piece of titanium that is designed to be implanted into your mouth, where it bonds with your jaw tissue in a process called “osseointegration.” After the implant heals, it functions as an artificial root. Then, a dental implant restoration such as a dental crown can be attached to the root, restoring your smile.
Single-tooth implants are a great alternative to both partial dentures and dental bridges. Among other benefits, single-tooth implants look and feel more natural, last 30+ years with proper care, and prevent jaw bone loss.
replacing your tooth
dental implant restorations
A dental implant restoration is a false tooth that is attached to your implant to restore your smile. At our office, we only offer single-tooth restorations with dental crowns. However, in some cases, dentists may use multiple implants to support an implant-supported bridge to restore multiple teeth, or a set of implant-supported bridges to replace all of the teeth.
keEping implants healthy
dental implant maintenance
As long as you brush twice a day for two minutes and floss once a day, your implants will remain healthy. However, it’s still important to come into our office every six months for a teeth cleaning, oral exam, and dental implant maintenance from Dr. Toni Engram.
what to expect
the dental implant procedure
After you’ve been approved for an implant and Dr. Engram has developed your treatment plan, you’ll come in for your implant placement appointment. You can be sedated during this appointment, if you wish.
First, your mouth will be cleaned and numbed. Then, Dr. Engram will create an opening in your gum and jaw tissue, and place your implant precisely in the location where your missing tooth used to be. Then, the area will be cleaned and stitched shut to encourage healing, and you’ll be sent home to recover.
You will come in for several appointments over the next few months, and Dr. Engram will track your healing progress and begin taking impressions and images of your implant to design your implant restoration, which will be built by an outside dental lab.
Once your mouth has fully healed, which typically takes between 3-6 months, you’ll come back to our office for your final appointment. Dr. Engram will check your implant restoration to make sure it fits perfectly. If everything looks good, your restoration will be permanently attached to your implant using powerful dental cement, and you’ll be sent home with a brand new smile.
