If you’ve ever had a tooth removed, a frenectomy, or any other oral surgery, you know that pain management is part of the deal. But for many of our patients, the standard pharmaceutical options don’t feel like the best fit.
At Flourish, we always provide prescriptions when needed—because sometimes, that’s the most compassionate choice. But we also know that many of our patients prefer to use as little medication as possible, or avoid it altogether when it’s safe to do so.
The good news? There are effective, natural tools you can use to manage pain, support healing, and feel empowered during your recovery.
Here are some holistic methods that can be used on their own or alongside medication to reduce pain and inflammation after oral surgery:
Apply a cold pack to the outside of your cheek for 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off during the first 24–48 hours. This helps reduce swelling and numbs the area naturally.
A homeopathic remedy used to reduce bruising and swelling. Can be taken orally in pellet form or applied as a topical gel (but not directly on open wounds).
A powerful natural anti-inflammatory. Available in capsules—look for forms paired with black pepper for better absorption.
Full-spectrum CBD oil can help manage pain, anxiety, and inflammation. Tinctures, capsules, or topical balms are great options (just don’t apply topicals inside the mouth).
Start 24 hours post-op (or as directed). Warm saltwater rinses soothe tissues and reduce bacteria naturally.
Also known as photobiomodulation. Red or near-infrared light can promote faster tissue healing and reduce inflammation. Available in-office or for home use.
BEMER uses pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF) to increase microcirculation, reduce inflammation, and support tissue regeneration. We offer BEMER sessions in-office to support post-op recovery.
This device uses cranial electrotherapy stimulation (CES) to help manage pain and anxiety. It’s an excellent, drug-free option we offer in-office—especially for patients who are sensitive or anxious after surgery.
Keep your head elevated. Avoid strenuous activity. Stick to soft, nourishing foods. Rest is medicine too.
After oral surgery, your body is working hard to repair tissues, reduce inflammation, and clear out waste products from anesthesia or cellular damage. Supporting that process nutritionally can make a big difference in how you feel—and how fast you heal.
At Flourish, we offer a post-op IV vitamin infusion designed specifically to support healing, detox, and immune resilience.
Our custom blend includes:
This IV isn’t a direct painkiller—but many of our patients say they feel less sore, less fatigued, and more energized during recovery when they opt in. It’s a beautiful, biologically aligned way to care for your body after surgery.
Natural remedies can be great allies during recovery. Here are some of our favorites:
We send this home with most surgical patients for a reason. StellaLife is a homeopathic oral care system that helps reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation—naturally.
